WABUNGE wanaume nchini Zimbabwe wameonekana kutokukubaliana na wito wa kutaka kutahiriwa ili kuonesha mfano katika kupambana dhidi ya Ukimwi, BBC imegundua.
Naibu Waziri Mkuu, Thokozani Khupe alitoa wito huo, kufuatia ushahidi kuwa wanaume waliotahiriwa wana uwezekano wa kuathirika na virusi vya HIV kwa chini ya asilimia 60.
Miongoni mwa wabunge wanane waliozungumza na BBC, mmoja tu alisema atatilia maanani pendekezo lake.
Mmoja aliita hatua hiyo “wazimu”, wakati mwengine alisema ataonyesha mfano mzuri kutokana na tabia yake. Zimbabwe ni moja ya nchi zilioathirika sana na ugonjwa wa ukimwi na mwaka jana serikali ilizindua kampeni ya kuwatahiri mpaka aslimia 80 ya vijana wa kiume- ambao ni takriban watu milioni tatu.
Shirika la Afya Duniani WHO linawashawishi wanaume kutahiriwa kufuatia utafiti uliofanywa katika nchi nyingine za Afrika. Hata hivyo, wataalamu wa ugonjwa huo, wanaonya kutumia kondom, kujizuia kufanya ngono au kuwa mwaminifu kwa mwenza mmoja ni miongoni mwa njia bora zaidi katika kujikinga dhidi ya virusi vya Ukimwi.
